Hello,

My name is Slevin, and I am a Chaotic Player like everybody who read this. In order to support the community, I decided to create a little guide on how to trade, going from basics to advanced things. This guide is only for reference and is not an official guide, it was written by me and I was helped by Odin66 and fire2nice, which I thank kindly for their support.

First of all, I’ll give a little introduction. As you all know, the trade forum is one of the most visited sections in the Chaotic Forums. Many people spend time looking for the card(s) they need or trading card(s) they don't need. On the forums, there are people of every kind, every age and some newer and older players. This guide will give you a lot of tips, and you should read it, even if you are a new or elder player.

Feel free to give you opinion/support or even critics. If you think something is missing, you can mention it.

----------------------------

1. Card Value: To start, every cards have value, ranging from Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Ultra Rare. There are also the "Beyond Rares" or the 4 kids Promo cards (Refer to 1.5)

It is really important to take a look for the rarity, for example if you offer a card not from the same value (For example a Common for a Super) there is a big chance that your offer gets declined. There are still some traders that prefer quantity over quality. (For Example someone could accept 2 or 3 Rare Value card for 1 Super Rare value cards or vice-versa.) What can raise the value of a card are his stats, for example, someone with a really really nice stated Common or Uncommon, could end up with getting a Super Rare card for it.

Some cards are harder to get than others, even if they are on the same categories. The best example is Fortissimo and Windstrider compared to Drakness, Drakness is really really hard to find, while Fortissimo is the card everybody want to trade away.

The Chaotic Rarity Symbol is the colored symbol in the top right corner of all Chaotic cards. The color and rarity scheme is as follows:

4 - Black: Common

3 - Green: Uncommon

2 - Gold: Rare

1 - Silver: Super Rare

0 - Silver with Ultra: Ultra Rare

1.1 Common Cards: These are the most basic cards and most people have multiple copies of them. In a 9 card pack, 7 of the cards are commons or uncommons, meaning that they are some of the most "Un-needed" cards. Most commons are as easy to find, you just need to ask. Some people even give them away. Rarity symbol: Black. Rarity 4.

1.2 Uncommon Cards: Often put in the same category than the Common Cards, they are as easy to find as the common cards and have the same description (Refer to 1.1)

Rarity Symbol: Green. Rarity 3.

1.3 Rares: Rares are a bit harder to find than Commons or Uncommons. The most needed Rares are often the creatures, due to their good stats or because they are iconic (Referring to the Chaotic Television Show). Most of them are needed to complete decks and are easily tradable together. (Rares for Rare). In EVERY 9 card packs, you get at least 1 Rare and sometime 2. Rarity symbol: Yellow. Rarity 2.

1.4 Super Rares/Ultra Rares: These are the cards that are mostly traded on the Trade Forum. These cards are a big boost to your army, and some of the Super Rares have really high value. You got 1 chance on 3 to get a Super Rare Card in a pack. Super Rare Rarity Symbol: Grey. Rarity 1. Ultra Rare Symbol: Grey with the word "ULTRA" under the symbol. Rarirty 0.

1.5 "Beyond Rares" or 4kids: These were promotional cards given by 4 kids and are NO LONGER AVAILABLE. They are labeled "Beyond Rares". Considering these cards have uncertain value, it's hard to tell the rarity. Some people would label them as Super Rares and some others Uncommons. A possible rumor of these cards coming out in real cards in the next set "Zenith of the Hive" is out, but no one confirmed it.

1.6 The "Big 4's": We call them the big 4's because they are 4. Consisted of Maxxor, Chaor, Heptadd and Lord Van Bloot. These are the 4 strongest cards in Chaotic, and most people would trade any of their cards for them.

-----------

2. Auctions: Auction is a form of way to trade cards. In an auction, you let people "bid" on the cards you offer, until the end time is reached, then you trade to the best bidder. You do this mostly with cards you are certain will have a great success.

2.1 How to create an auction: To create an auction, you must set a start and end date. You must also have a card to auction, and you must be 100% sure that you will trade that card, NO MATTER WHAT THE FINAL OFFER IS! You can also put an "Instant" win bid, which is a card that will immediately out-bid all other cards.

2.2 Start Date and end date of an auction: Your auction will need a start date and an end date. The start date is when you post your auction and the end date is when you want to end the auction. Be careful not to set too far away end dates, because people might lose interess or forget about your auction.

------------

3. Trade Topic: A trade topic is a topic in which you show the cards you can trade and the cards you need.

3.1 How to create a trade topic: Well, this one is pretty easy. All you need to do is to list all the cards you are willing to trade (And only these) and it is VERY VERY important to list the cards you are looking for, because if you don't, then people will only propose you random cards, and that's not what you are looking for most of the time.

3.2 How to make a trade topic more appealing: First of all, you have a way higher chance of people reading your topic if you write it correctly, with a proper english and no shortened words. I also strongly recommend using ponctuations and separating your paragraphs. Second is to have a good "structure" for example, not putting all creatures stats too tight, because some people might not be able to read them, and it might lead to confusion.

3.3 Posting a creature(s) stats: It is optional to post creatures stats, but I strongly recommend it, because what makes a creature unique is his stats. My suggestes order is Courage, Power, Wisdom, Speed and Energy. If you decide not to use this structure, please indicate what structure you are using by either mentioning it at the beginning or by placing a c, p, w, s, e after your creature stats.

----------------------

4. Trader Attitude: Your attitude is very important as a trader. For example, if you don't trade cards you promised you would trade, then your reputation will take a big hit, because people who are informed about this, will think about it 2 times before trading with you.

4.1 The "Check My Thread" issue: As the title says, asking someone to "Check his Thread" will often result in a negative answer. People all have their thread, and there's over a thousand threads on the trade forum. So I personally think that you should list your cards if you want a chance to trade with the person.

4.2 Refusing a Trade: Refusing a trade is your right, if you think a trade is bad, you can tell the person, nicely, that you are not interested. As I mentioned above, as a trader, you have a reputation, and it's one of the most impolite thing to refuse a trade that was already agreed on, even if it's your right. For example, there is an auction, and at the very end, you refuse to trade your card, it is your right, yes, but it affects your reputation. Same goes if you get a better offer AFTER you agreed on another one, if you agreed then you should do it. This is very frustrating to be refused an offer after it was agreed on.

4.3 Negotiating: Before you agree on a trade, you can negotiate. You can negotiate to get better cards or to trade fewer cards. It goes both ways. It's always better to negotiate to see if you can get more, if not, then you can either refuse or accept. But remember, if you accept, there's no turning back. (Refer to 4.2)

4.4 Scamming/Rip-Off: Scamming is totally illegal on this site. You can even get banned. So if you are or you see a scammer, then please report him or her. As of Rip-Off, then it always happens, and we can't do much, but refuse offers.

4.5 Using a correct language: Using a correct language is purely optional, but strongly recommended. It makes it easier to have a conversation when someone talk the same language then you. First, you should put ponctuations. Second, DO NOT use shortened words (your, you're, u(you), y(why), r(are), u2(you too) and etc). Third, PUT SPACES BETWEEN YOUR PARAGRAPHS!

4.6 B umping your topic: B umping a topic is pretty important. If you don't know what b umping is, then here is a little definition: B umping is the action of posting a word, so that your topic comes back to the top of the forum. Altough, if everyone b ump his topic, then the forum will become a mess, because all topics want to be on top. So you should actually wait until your topic has reached the second page until you b ump it.

--------------------

5. Trade Sector: The trade sector is a big part of trading. There is always a good deal, and you should check it out some times to see if there's something good, you never know, you might fall on the best trade of your life!

5.1 What can you find in the Trade Sector?: On the trade sector, you must assume that if you request creatures, they can have any stats. So you must be careful, unless you don't care about the stats. If your trade does not work as soon as you post it, give it some time, someone might fall on it and accept it. Plus trades that are there for longer than 48 hours are deleted, so give it 2 days, and then post a new one.

5.2 How does the trade section work?: To create a trade, you must go to the collection page and select the cards you request and the cards you offer. You have more chances of getting your requested cards, if you offer more than you request. (For example 2 rares for 1 rare you really need). For more important trades, you are always better to go to the trade section in the forums, to see if someone can offer you more.

5.3: New Trade Features: As of May 27th 2008, new features were added to the trade section. The new features are as *** on a trade link in your email no longer requires you to be logged into the site. Previously, when *** the 'Accept' or 'Reject' trade links sent in an email, you had to be logged into the site. If you weren't logged into the site, the links wouldn't go through. This may account for why some trades were not working.

Both sides of the trade can reject a trade through their email.

Trade rejections are allowed even after acceptance. This means that once a trade has been accepted, you can go back and reject it yourself if you wish (this can only happen if the other person involved in the trade has not yet accepted the trade).

Two trade keys are generated for pending trades, one unique to each player. What this means is that when you *** on the 'Accept' or 'Reject' link, the website will identify each player. This will ensure more accurate trading.

We have implemented a better internal tracking for all trades, including acceptances and rejections. This way if anyone has an issue with a trade, we can check all activity.

-----------------------------

6. Private Message: The Private Message is a functionality of the forums, which let you talk to someone personally, only you and the sender can read it.

6.1 Why private message?: I personally think the private messages are a best way to communicate. It gives a more personal approach and it let you talk to the person alone, not having everybody's opinion. Who knows, you might discover new friends by having discussions

--------------------

7. End Word: Well, I hope all these informations helped at least 1 person out there, because if yes, then my goal is reached. I am not trying to offense anybody nor am I targeting anybody when I make examples. I really hope this thread become a reference to any traders or any new comers. Please feel free to leave any comments, good or bad. Thanks to Odin66 and fire2nice for the help! Thanks to Slevin for spending a whole after-noon writing this.

I think you did a great job on this thread!

Another thing that could be mentioned (if it already was and I missed it then I apologize) is in 4. Trader Attitude section: Please don't bash other players, especially if it is simply for a trade offer that you don't think is fair. It is really annoying to look at more posts bashing players than there are for trades on a thread. We can all be polite about accepting/declining trades.
