Here is a list of all of the unique priority points used in Chaotic. Many of these are not yet implemented in the online game, but these can be used as a reference for playing the offline game.

  • Ready Step

    • After resolution of ready step abilities the Active Player receives priority to play abilities or Mugic.

  • Location Step

    • After triggered abilities [from flipping a new location] are put on a burst, Active Player gets priority to add Mugic or abilities to the burst.

    • After the Location has been turned face up and generated abilities have been resolved the Active Player receives priority to play Mugic cards or abilities.

  • Action Step

    • After a Creature is chosen to take an action, but before the type of action is selected, the Active Player receives priority to play Mugic cards or abilities.

    • When a Creature moves into a space occupied by an opposing Creature, battle is initiated. The active player receives priority and any abilities which trigger when a Creature attacks are placed on the Burst and resolved at this time.

  • Combat

    • Defender Interception

    • Beginning of Combat

      • Any Engaged Creature with an unrevealed Battlegear has that Battlegear turned face up. This happens simultaneously with engagement and Engagement triggers see both Creatures with their Battlegear revealed. Any effects are generated by Creatures becoming Engaged or Battlegear being revealed are now added to the Burst with the Active player adding his/her effects first. The Active player then receives priority.

      • Effects that occur “At the beginning of combat” are resolved. These effects form the start of a new Burst. Effects from the active Location are placed on the Burst first, followed by effects controlled by the Active Player. Finally effects controlled by the Defending Player are added to the Burst. If a player controls more than one effect that player may choose the order in which they are added to the Burst. Once all effects are added to the Burst, the Active Player receives priority.

    • Initiative

    • Strike Phase

      • At the start of the Strike phase the player with Initiative gets priority to play Mugic and abilities. During the Strike phase the player with Initiative is known as the Striking Player.

      • Once the Attack card has been successfully played the Striking Player then receives priority to play abilities or Mugic.

    • End of Combat

      • Once the Burst [ending combat] is resolved the surviving Creature (if any) is placed in the space occupied by the defeated Creature on the battlegrid. The Active player then receives priority.

  • Showdown Step

  • Recovery Step

I know it is a lot to digest, so feel free to ask any questions that come up. I'll do my best to answer!

Yes, unless specifically noted somewhere on the card, abilities may only be paid for by the Creature.

Also how exactly does showdown work?

The Showdown step occurs every turn and checks to see if the Active Player has been involved in combat since the beginning of his/her last turn. That means that if you have not been engaged since the beginning of your last turn (Your previous turn, your opponent's turn, and your current turn), a Showdown will occur.

Showdown is initiated using the following steps:
1) The Active Player selects one Creature controlled by the Defending Player.
2) The Defending player selects one Creature controlled by the Active Player.
3) Initiative is determined in a random manner using any method agreeable to both players (such as a coin flip, Rock-Paper-Scissors, or a die roll).
4) Combat occurs as normal.
5) The winning Creature is returned to the battlegrid in its own starting space.

After the combat is concluded and the winning Creature is returned to its space, the turn progresses to the Recovery Step.
